A Mac - Friend or Foe?

I have always been a Windows kinda guy. Not out of choice, more of poularity. When you go into a major PC store you are confronted with PC’s not Mac’s. I can talk all day about PC specifications, but Mac specs are relatively foreign.

So whats the difference? Mostly price, from what I can see. When you such for comparisons on the internet between PC’s and Mac’s all you get are biased reviews of one or the other being ‘better’ and dwarfing the other as ‘crap’.

This will come as a shock to most of my friends, but I’m starting to like Mac’s.

The only thing is, they are not that different to a PC. There operating systems set them apart from each other but still use the same basic navigation methods and windowed viewing.

  • Start button is somewhat comparable to the Finder Utility.
  • The Taskbar is similar to the Docked bar on a Mac.
  • Both systems have a ‘Desktop’.
  • Both systems open ‘Windows’ for each application.

The major differences are also not to difficult to overcome;

  • Single Mouse button on Mac - use a 2-button mouse or Cmd+Click (I think?).
  • Program execution - emulators are available to pretend that you PC or Mac - is it’s counterpart.

Most Microsoft programs are available for the Mac, and most Mac programs are available on the PC;

The only point at which this all falls down is if you are a big gamer - the majority of games are made for the PC architecture - but don’t worry Viruses are made mostly for PC’s too!

So all in all, why the argument?

If you hate Microsoft? - Get a Mac!!

If you hate Apple? - Get a PC!!

That’s all I have to say on the matter today;

…whats this Linux I’ve heard about??? :-)
