Running late?

June 8th, 2009

My girlfriend and I noticed today that everyone else is allowed to be late. We found this out whilst calling to advise our lateness to an appointment.

We were told “We’ll note it on the appointment and he’ll decide if he can still see you”

This is in an establishment that is renowned for being significantly late on appointments, without any explanation. This, however, makes no difference to them and are willing to sacrifice an appointment.

This also happens elsewhere. Things have changed but at one point you had to wait up to 28 days for delivery on many mail order items, but you have to pay straight away. If the item was later than 28 days, you just had to wait longer or kick up such a fuss that you would get 0.001% off of your next purchase – but if you paid late, you would probably see 3 letters chasing you for payment and pursuing legal action.

And again if you are 5 minutes late for work, or returning from a lunch break you’ll get the third degree from your manager – yet you could be waiting for a year for your ‘monthly’ appraisal.

Anyone else got some examples of where the ‘waiting’  priorities change depending on your perspectives??
